Better Than Garlic Jewelry

Home

My Uncle was a very successful, old-time doctor who actually made house calls. I recall childhood stories about families who were enamored of the curative power of a garlic necklace, so much so, that when my uncle wrote a prescription for antibiotics, he would add a second prescription for a garlic necklace. When I asked why, he said: “It couldn’t hurt; it might help, they’re more likely to take their medicine.”

As I started designing jewelry, just for fun, a standing joke developed between friends and myself. I would give someone a necklace, often before a big, stressful event, and suggest that it would certainly be better than wearing a string of garlic cloves to the event. It couldn’t hurt; it might help. At least it’s better than garlic.
